Cordulus secures €6.8M in Series A funding to expand its AI weather solutions into the energy market

Press release 18.12.2025

While Europe fears falling behind in the global AI race, a Denmark-based company stands as one of the most promising candidates for the next wave of technology: real-world AI. These are models that understand climate, energy, and the physical infrastructure upon which society is built.

Cordulus operates one of the world’s largest networks of hyperlocal weather stations, surpassing even the national weather station network of the United States. Using data from this network, the company trains its AI models on the world’s largest supercomputers, creating some of Europe’s most precise weather models based on real-time data.

Today, agriculture is Cordulus’ largest market. Here, the company’s hyperlocal AI weather forecasts are already used to manage fertilization, crop protection, and planning with far greater precision than traditional models allow.

Now, Delphinus Venture Capital – Denmark’s newest VC fund – has made Cordulus its very first investment, bringing the company’s total Series A funding to €6.8M. The investment will accelerate Cordulus’ expansion as a provider of weather data and forecasts to the energy market.

One of Europe’s strongest AI teams in real-world data

Cordulus is not just a weather company. It is home to one of Europe’s strongest AI teams specializing in physical data pipelines at extreme scale.

“This is one of the most exceptional AI teams we have encountered. Cordulus is proof that Europe can compete in the battle for real-world AI. The team’s ability to link advanced AI with something as physical and complex as the weather is rare, and it is exactly the type of company Delphinus Venture Capital was built to invest in,” says Mathias Brink Lorenz, CEO at Delphinus Venture Capital.

Investment set to accelerate entry into energy trading

Demand for hyperlocal forecasts is growing rapidly in the energy sector, where even small fluctuations in wind and solar conditions can move markets in real time. With this investment, Cordulus will expand its product specifically for energy trading, where forecast precision is critical for risk management, portfolio optimization, and pricing.

“Our AI models improve by the minute because we collect enormous amounts of data from the physical world. Right now, the AI race is about hardware, but the next great challenge will be acquiring enough quality data. Here, Cordulus is already a step ahead. We collect millions of actual data points every single day. These are exactly the ‘labels’ from physical reality that are necessary to take AI models to the next level,” says John Smedegaard, CEO of Cordulus.

“We have customers in over 22 countries across widely different industries. They are all deeply affected by the weather and, therefore, dependent on forecasts they can trust. We contribute with clarity and accuracy, and we can see how our technology can bring enormous value, particularly within energy trading,” John adds.

Delphinus Venture Capital is backed by the Aarhus University Research Foundation, Norlys, HEARTLAND, and Salling Group.

Investors rally behind AI journey

Cordulus received investment from the multinational agricultural cooperative Danish Agro in 2019, which remains the majority shareholder. Other owners include venture capital firm Rockstart, the Pajbjerg Foundation, and several private investors.

“We have proudly taken part in Cordulus’ development as a company, and the investment from Delphinus Venture Capital further underscores the company’s enormous potential. Over the past few years, Cordulus’ advanced technology and hyperlocal weather forecasts have created great value, particularly for Northern European farmers,” says Henning Haahr, Group CEO of Danish Agro and Chairman of the Board at Cordulus.

The Pajbjerg Foundation also welcomes the new investment.

“It is very positive that Delphinus Venture Capital is now joining Cordulus. We see great potential in Cordulus’ weather solutions across many industries. The company’s innovative AI technology and robust weather stations are vital tools for the development of future plant varieties,” says Michael Stevns, Chairman of the Pajbjerg Foundation.
